Chalk the Town Mural Contest

Create a 5' × 5' sidewalk chalk mural featuring any theme or subject you choose.  All ages and skill levels are welcome. Professional grade chalk and your mural location will be provided at check-in, and prizes will be awarded at the end of the day.

New in 2026: Most murals will be done in one designated area. Local businesses are welcome to have their sponsored group/artist create a mural in front of their storefront.

Prizes

1st Place – $200

2nd Place – $150

3rd Place – $50

Contest Guidelines

• Murals must fit within the designated 5' x 5' sidewalk space.

• Artwork should be family-friendly and appropriate for a public event.

• Chalk only. No paints, fixatives, or permanent materials may be used.

• Judging will be based on creativity, artistic quality, originality, and effective use of space.

Contest Schedule

• Chalk Pick-Up & Chalking begins at Creston Arts: Saturday, September 19 at 9:00 a.m.

• Take a break to participate in the parade or keep working: 10:30 a.m.

• Chalking Ends: 4:00 p.m.

• Winners Announced: 5:00 p.m.

Registration Deadline: September 7

Registration Fee: $25 per mural entry (individuals and groups welcome). Your registration helps support Creston Arts' mission of building a stronger, more engaged community through the arts.
