Creston Arts Council, originally called Crest Area Arts Council, is a 501(c)3 non-profit that has been serving southwest Iowa since 1976.


In 2011, a new group of volunteers took the reigns and developed programming for individuals of all ages and abilities such as Art Camp, Chalk the Town, and established the Depot Art Gallery.

The primary objective of this corporation shall be to provide a vehicle for ­coordination, advancement, promotion, and administration of all phases of the arts in Creston, Iowa, and the surrounding area.

The Art Center prohibits harassment and disrespectful behavior on any basis listed above. 

Examples of harassment include:

  • Verbal harassment including threats, slurs, epithets, and unwanted sexual comments or advances

  • Visual displays including inappropriate gestures, photos, drawings, etc. 

  • Physical conduct such as unwanted touch and assault

As a 501c3 tax-exempt organization, Creston Arts is required to provide certain information upon request. We want to share this information in an easily accessible format.

Prior to 2019, Creston Arts filed an IRS E-Postcard. This simple return is filed by organizations with gross receipts less than $50,000 and by organizations that do not have restricted funds. These are simple documents that can be found by searching the tax-exempt organization database on the Internal Revenue Service website.
