About the event
Wilderness Whispers:
This show features the work of Creston Community High School Painting Students. In this unit, students explored the Art Nouveau period, an international art movement that emerged in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Art Nouveau artists were inspired by nature and sought to move away from rigid historical styles, instead emphasizing flowing lines, plant forms, and decorative design. The style can be seen in architecture, posters, illustration, and decorative arts of the time.
Inspired by these ideas, each student selected a creature of personal interest and created an original composition incorporating Art Nouveau elements such as organic vines, flora, framing, and signature whiplash lines. Their work reflects both careful study of the style and their own creative voice.
The exhibition will be on display throughout the month of April. The community is invited to celebrate these young artists. Artist Reception on Friday, April 24 from 6:00–8:00 PM. Please mark your calendars and join us!
