About the event
‘At Home in Iowa’s Parks’
A Photographic Collection by Gary and Kathleen Hoard
Photography is our way to capture the ordinary and unusual moments, particularly in our state, county, and city parks and recreation areas. Looking through the lens and composing an interesting shot forces us to focus on our surroundings, enhancing the outdoor experience. The images are a bonus allowing us to share a special moment with others. We focus on the birds, animals, and plants that are at home in Iowa’s parks. The park landscapes and waterscapes we photograph evoke in us a feeling of peace and solitude by being ‘close to nature’. The images are printed on metal which reflects the vibrancy we see in the natural world.
