About the event
Learn the traditional art of coiling with natural pine needles in this hands-on basket-making class. Rather than weaving, participants will sew bundles of pine needles together to build a small, one-of-a-kind basket.
Beginners will learn the basic coiling technique, while those with previous pine needle basket-making experience can explore different stitches and surface designs. We’ll also talk about other natural materials that can be used with this technique.
Students will leave with a beautiful finished (or nearly finished) piece and the skills to continue coiling on your own at home.
Please note: This guided workshop begins at 10:00 AM. A small basket can take 6 to 7 hours. We will stop at 4:00 PM. Participants can take their baskets home to finish if not finished in class. We will take a break for lunch.
Class size is limited to 8 participants.
