About the event
On Saturday, August 15, 1- 4:30 PM, Creston Arts will offer a watercolor paint-along workshop with Iowa Watercolor Society member, Robert Zeidler. The class will start with a discussion of helpful watercolor painting tips, as well as the best watercolor materials to paint with and how they affect the outcome of your work. During the remaining time, Bob will provide a simple landscape composition for all to paint using a three-step process. He will demonstrate each step while allowing ample time for participants to complete those steps along with him. We’re confident that both beginners and painters with watercolor experience will learn a great deal from this class.
Creston Arts will provide supplies at no extra cost for beginners or you can bring your own.
If you'd like to bring your own, the supply list is as follows:
At least one quarter-sheet (15” x 11”) of good quality cotton watercolor paper (like 140 lb. cold press Arches or Fabriano),
Backer board to support the wet paper, along with spring clips
Palette with transparent watercolor pigments (for this painting Bob used Alizarin Crimson, Permanent Rose, Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Quinacridone Gold, and New Gamboge (two reds, two blues, and two yellows), but any other colors of your choosing should also work
Brushes; White sables or any other synthetic- nylon brushes work the best. 1-inch, 1/2-inch & 1/4-inch flats; 1/4-inch round, and another small round. (optional- nice to have a 2-inch flat)
