Brian Zachary

President

Brian Zachary re-formed the Crest Area Arts Council (later changed to simply Creston Arts) in 2011, after moving to Creston in 2007, and ran the Depot Gallery for over 10 years. He holds undergraduate degrees in Art History and Anthropology from UCLA and a masters degree in Historic Preservation from USC. Formerly involved with the Creston Historic Preservation Commission, the Union County Historical Society, the Wallace Centers of Iowa and the Creston Farmers' Market, Brian has acted as a community developer in many ways. Current involvement with the UCDA's Update Uptown board helps keep the arts at the table when doing future community planning. Brian is a printmaker and watercolor painter but likes to dabble in almost all art forms.

Elaina Fredrickson

Board Member

Elaina Fredrickson grew up just outside of Creston and now calls the community home. She studied under a private art instructor for four years before graduating, and today she runs her own small business creating and selling artwork in a variety of mediums.

Under the name Miss Elainious, Elaina transforms discarded and overlooked items into one-of-a-kind works of art. Her creations give new life to thrifted treasures—ranging from Barbie dolls and used paintbrushes to worn ballet shoes. From shimmering handmade jewelry adorned with recycled glass beads to whimsical dreamcatchers woven from vintage doilies, each piece is thoughtfully crafted from a trove of eclectic, upcycled findings. Elaina’s work celebrates the beauty of reimagined materials and the charm of the unexpected, inviting viewers to see the world through a more curious and creative lens.
