November 20, 2024. CRESTON, IA - Wildlife artist Sarah King will debut her first exhibit at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery this December, showcasing 12 paintings inspired by North American birds.
The exhibit highlights King’s 2024 project of painting a different bird each month. Using a mix of watercolor and acrylic techniques, King depicts two distinct styles: animated expressions through watercolor and realistic renderings with acrylic. Each acrylic painting features a signature gloss finish, adding depth and vibrancy to her work.
King’s goal with this show is to showcase the elegance, beauty, and splendor of different birds found in the United States. Before and during a painting, King researches the preferred territory range of each bird to represent the area that particular bird inhabits accurately.
The exhibit will be open to the public throughout December at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery.
Opening Reception
The public is invited to an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 5, at Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 West Adams Street. Light refreshments will be served.
