DECEMBER EVENTS AT CRESTON ARTS



November 25th, 2024. CRESTON, IA — More fun, festive, and engaging events for all ages at the Creston Arts Center this December.


“There’s No Place Like Creston for the Holidays”

The Creston Arts Center will host a warming station during the Christmas parade. 6 to 8 p.m. Hot cocoa and cookies will be available. Free will donations are encouraged.


Pickled in the Pines

The Pickles in the Pines workshop will take place on Saturday, December 7th from 10 a.m. to Noon. In this fun and festive workshop hosted by Sarah Scull, participants will hand-stitch a felt pickle to hide in their Christmas trees. This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to embrace a quirky holiday tradition while learning basic hand-stitching techniques. Class is capped at 30 participants. All ages are welcome. Makers’ Night

Sarah Scull will host another Makers’ Night Open Studio on Thursday, December 12th from 5 to 8 p.m. Artists and crafters are invited to bring their current projects to work on at the Creston Arts Center amongst other creatives. For those simply seeking a creative and social space, drawing and watercolor supplies will be provided. This event is for all ages. RSVP for headcount is required at www.crestonarts.org


Paint with Melissa! Christmas Grinch

Paint with Melissa! Christmas Grinch will take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13th at the Creston Arts Center. With Melissa's guidance, participants will use acrylics to create a painting featuring the Grinch holding a beautiful Christmas ornament. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this easy-to-follow class. Class is capped at 20 participants. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.


Visible Mending with Sandy Maxa

Participants are invited to bring personal clothing or textiles in need of restoration for this workshop on December 14th from 10 a.m. to Noon. Crafter Sandy Maxa will lead a hands-on workshop exploring creative techniques to restore and reinforce beloved items. No prior sewing experience is necessary. Online registration required at www.crestonarts.org. Class is capped at 15 participants.


Birds of North America

Creston Arts welcomes the work of wildlife artist Sarah King. This exhibit will feature 12 watercolor and acrylic paintings of North American birds. The exhibit will run for most of December in the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 1st, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W.
