February 2nd, 2025. CRESTON, IA — Creston Arts brings live music, more painting classes, a new art exhibition, and more this February.
HAYMAKERS String Band Live Performance
Creston Arts and the Creston Eagles are cosponsoring a live performance by Kansas-based four-piece String Band Haymakers at the Creston Eagles Lounge on Saturday, February 22nd starting at 8 p.m. This event is free but free-will donations to benefit Creston Arts are encouraged at the door.
Open Studio
Open Studio is for creatives of all types! This month two Open Studios will be offered. On Thursdays, February 13th and 27th from 5 to 8 p.m., artists and crafters are invited to bring their own project to work on at the Creston Arts Center amongst other creatives. For those simply seeking a creative and social space, drawing and watercolor supplies will be provided. RSVP at www.crestonarts.org.
Paint Your Partner!
Couples are invited to the Creston Arts Center for a Paint Your Partner workshop. Each couple will be given two canvases and paint supplies to paint portraits of each other. Free childcare will be provided for paying participants. Children will participate in a supervised art activity downstairs while parents paint upstairs. This event starts at 6 p.m. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.
Paint with Melissa! Spring Pig
With guidance from Melissa Raddatz, participants will use acrylics to create a painting featuring a cute spring pig. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this easy-to-follow class, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Children under 12 years of age are required to be with a parent or guardian. Saturday, February 22nd. Poetry Club
Poetry Club will take place on Monday, February 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. This event is free but RSVP is required at www.crestonarts.org. The event is for those ages 15 and up. No experience is necessary!
The Art of Miss Elainious
Creston Arts invites a new artist to the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. This exhibit showcases Miss Elainious’ artwork, made from found and repurposed materials. The materials include broken dolls, old ballet shoes, and other various items. The exhibit will be held for most of February. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, February 7th, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W. Adams St. Light refreshments will be served. Learn more at www.crestonarts.com.
