June 1st, 2024. CRESTON, IA — Five summer camps, a new exhibit, weekly walk and draw club, and more with Creston Arts this month.
Summer Camps
Four more camps have joined Summer Art Camp this year at the Creston Arts Center. This month is full of kids’ summer camps including Indigo Dye Camp, Music Camp, Art Camp, Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre Camp, and Textile Camp (in July). These five camps vary from two to five days. Prairie Walk and Draw
Creston Arts is excited to introduce a weekly Praire Walk and Draw at Green Valley State Park. Participants will embark on a leisurely walk through the scenic trails of Green Valley State Park, allowing them to connect with nature and find inspiration. While walking, attendees are encouraged to capture their surroundings through sketching in their sketchbooks. This group will meet every Thursday from 5 to 6 P.M. starting June 6th and ending on August 1st. This group is sponsored by the Iowa Prairie Network. The Iowa Prairie Network is a grassroots, volunteer, organization that is dedicated to the preservation of Iowa's prairie heritage. IPN was formed in 1990 by Iowans concerned that our prairie heritage was disappearing.
Monthly Poetry Workshop
This month’s poetry workshop celebrates Pride Month with the question ‘What does pride mean to you?’ The group will meet at the Creston Arts Center from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, June 6th.
Iowa Combines by Russ Nordman
Creston Arts welcomes the works of Russ Nordman, professor of media arts at the University of Nebraska Omaha. The exhibit will run from June 1st through June 29th in the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 7th, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W. Adams St. Light refreshments will be served.
