Artist in Residence Workshops & Demonstrations
Creston Arts will host three artists this month through the Artist-in-Residence program. Each artist will give a free presentation or workshop at the Arts Center to share their talents with the community.
Award-winning Interdisciplinary Teaching Artist Jonathan Matteson will teach a two-day workshop on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, from 9 to 11 a.m., both days. In this workshop, titled ‘Phone Photography 101,’ Matteson will teach participants the basics of taking better photos with smartphones.
Artist and Hobby Naturalist Cassandra Tant will hold a demonstration on Wednesday, June 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. Tant’s artwork, which consists mostly of oil, acrylic, and ink, draws inspiration from the natural world and what she finds in gardens, prairies, and forests.
Painter and Muralist Courtney Moller will hold a demonstration on Thursday, June 26, from 6 to 8 p.m. Moller primarily works with acrylics on canvas or wood. Her style is a blend of abstract and realism. Moller’s paintings and murals are designed to brighten spaces and lift spirits, capturing the light, hope, and joy she has found in her faith.
Art Journaling
In this class, participants will be given a prompt and reflective questions to write about in their journals, which they can then embellish with paint, drawings, and collage. Materials will be provided. No prior experience is necessary. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this class on Friday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.

At the watercolor workshop, participants will learn techniques for blending, layering, and creating stunning effects with washes and textures. Ideal for beginners or those wanting to enhance their skills. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this class on Tuesday, June 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.
Paint with Melissa!

Poetry Club
Poetry Club will take place on Monday, June 29, from 6 to 8 p.m. Designed for both new and seasoned writers, this free workshop offers writing prompts, guided exercises, and collaborative feedback to help you explore different poetic forms and refine your voice. Embrace the beauty of language, nurture your creative process, and connect with fellow poets in a supportive environment that encourages experimentation and growth. This event is free, but RSVP is required at www.crestonarts.org. The event is for those ages 15 and up. No experience is necessary!
Recontextures by Trey Reis
Recontextures by Artist Trey Reis is a collection of large-scale colorful collages. The title of this collection, Recontextures, is a reference to both the process of recontextualization at the core of collage and the intricate, textural nature of the finished pieces.
A Closing Reception will be held on Friday, June 27, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Light refreshments will be provided.
