MARCH EVENTS AT CRESTON ARTS

Creston Arts

March 4th, 2025. CRESTON, IA — Another month of fun classes, interesting workshops, and a new photography exhibit with Creston Arts this March.


Open Studio

Open Studio is for creatives of all types! This month two Open Studios will be offered. On Thursday, March 13th and 27th from 5:30 to 8 p.m., artists and crafters are invited to bring their own project to work on at the Creston Arts Center amongst other creatives. For those simply seeking a creative and social space, drawing and watercolor supplies will be provided. RSVP at www.crestonarts.org


Junk Journaling

In this workshop, participants will explore a meaningful way to document thoughts, sketches, and memories! They will learn to craft a personalized journal using repurposed materials like vintage papers, fabric scraps, and postcards. Supplies are provided, but participants can bring their own if they would like. Free-will donations are appreciated. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this class, 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 14th. Online registration is required at www.crestonarts.org.


Watercolor Workshop

Creston Arts will host a watercolor workshop Tuesday, March 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Creston Arts Center. Participants will learn techniques for blending, layering, and creating stunning effects with washes and textures. This class is perfect for beginners or those looking to refine their skills. Poetry Club

Poetry Club will take place on Monday, March 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. Explore how humor can tackle serious topics in poetry! We'll discuss examples, write our own, and share (for those who are comfortable). Whether you're a newcomer or returning, it's the perfect time to join us for creative writing and thoughtful conversation. This event is free but RSVP is required at www.crestonarts.org. The event is for those ages 15 and up. No experience is necessary!


Paint with Melissa!

With guidance from Melissa Raddatz, participants will use acrylics to create a painting featuring a cute spring scene of a wheelbarrow full of flowers. All skill levels and ages are welcome in this easy-to-follow class, 5:30 to 7 p.m. Children under 12 years of age are required to be with a parent or guardian. Saturday, March 29th. ‘At Home in Iowa’s Parks’

Creston Arts is excited to bring Photographers Gary and Kathleen Hoard to exhibit at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery in March. This gallery, titled ‘At Home in Iowa’s Parks,’ will include work by Gary and Kathleen on birds, animals, and plants that call Iowa Parks their home, and Iowa park landscape and waterscape photography. The exhibit will be open to the public throughout March at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. The public is invited to an artist’s reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 West Adams Street. Light refreshments will be served.
