SEPTEMBER EVENTS AT CRESTON ARTS

Chalk with Us - Balloon Days

Chalk with Us 2024 is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20 during Balloon Days. This change was made due to forecasted rain during the days before the Independence Day festivities. Volunteers are invited to come to the Creston Arts Center to create chalk murals. The participants can help work on sponsored chalk murals or do their own thing with free chalk. Artist in Residence: Beth Bakkum

Creston Arts welcomes Artist in Residence Beth Bakkum. Please join us for a Meet and Greet 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, September 14 at Creston Arts Center. Light refreshments will be provided at this free event. Bakkum will also be teaching a free Fabric Squares workshop 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 26 at the Creston Arts Center. Poetry Events

This month’s poetry workshop is themed around leaf calligrams. This will be the first meeting with Alyssa Love as the facilitator. The group will meet at McKinley Park (at the Bear Statue near the shelter) from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 5th. RSVP is required at www.crestonarts.org.


Creston Arts will be hosting another Open Mic Poetry night at The Latest Edition Bookstore on Thursday, September 12th. Sign-up starts at 5:45 p.m. and reading begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and for all ages. Participants are encouraged to bring their own original poetry to share.



Paint with Melissa!

Paint with Melissa! will take place 5:30 p.m. Saturday, September 28th at the Creston Arts Center. Participants will learn how to paint with Melissa’s guidance. Class is capped at 20 participants. Online registration is required. More details to come at www.crestonarts.org.


Old Current by Chad Elliott

Creston Arts welcomes the artwork of painter and musician Chad Elliott. Elliott previously painted and performed at Green Valley State Park as part of his “Paint the Park” series. His performance in Union County was sponsored by Creston Arts and High Lakes Outdoor Alliance. The exhibit will run from September 1st through 30th at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery. An opening reception will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 6th, at the Creston Arts Depot Gallery, 116 W.
